SA 8000
SA 8000 is an international certification standard that encourages businesses to develop, maintain, and implement socially responsible workplace practices. SA 8000 certification focuses on forced and child labor, occupational health and safety, freedom of association and collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, compensation, and management systems. In addition to establishing global workplace standards, SA 8000 also incorporates existing international agreements, such as International Labor Organization conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Adopting SA 8000 certification requires a company to consider the social impact of its operations in addition to the working conditions of its employees and partners.
